25 Brentwood School Preparatory Senior House Hockey (Inaugural) Being Year Fives, it felt amazing to be chosen to play in Year Six house hockey. Even though we came third, we still felt like we won. It was a helpful experience which helped us learn many new techniques. The Year Sixes were very encouraging to us, not forgetting the great hockey teachers Miss Scotland and Mr Edwards. We will be attending Hockey Club next year which is run by the amazingly, inspiring, motivation sensation Miss Scotland! As we reached the field we saw the parents waiting for the game, we felt nervous. We went into a group huddle explaining our positions and how we would conquer the opposing team, bearing in mind that the opposing team was very defensive not so aggressive. Our Team Consisted of Alyssa.W (Goalkeeper) Devanshi.S, Sarah.Y and Shiloh (defenders ) Jessica.C and Chloe.B (Midfielders) Oyinda.F (Striker/Capt). When the match started, our team were trying to break through Heseltine’s defensive mids, it was impossible! Then Oyinda lobbed it over them, that was the big chance... Chloe got hold of the ball, she passed the ball to Oyinda, Oyinda passed the ball to Jessica and she passed it back to Oyinda. Oyinda dribbled around the defenders then she scored! The match ended 1-0 to us. After that we went on to playing Lawrence, the match ended 1-1. Last we played Quennell, the match ended 1-2 to us. Our team feels honoured to know that we did not lose a match. Oyinda Fadayomi Junior Boys’ House Football In our fourth games lesson, the Year Threes and Fours got put into house football teams. Freddie Johnston was the captain and Oscar Field was the vice-captain. Our first game was against Heseltine, we came back from behind and beat them 9-4. The team consisted of Harry Barden, Henry Jupp, Ashar Malik, Jack Carpenter, Joe Buggle, Oscar Field and Freddie Johnston. Five days later we played against Lawrence and from the off we were superb and dominated possession. We won 6-0. Now it was the real deal, we had to win this game to win the cup and if not we would have to go to goal difference seeing as Lawrence had got six points from all three of their games. It was game day and everyone was raring to go. Bayman went 4-0 up before half-time, all of a sudden Quennell turned their jets on and it went to 4-4 and Oscar and Freddie pulled through and both scored a goal and made it 6-4… Bayman Won!!! Senior Boys’ Football Year 6 Year 5 1st Bayman 1st Bayman 2nd Heseltine 2nd Lawrence 3rd Quennell 3rd Heseltine 4th Lawrence 4th Quennell Senior Boys’ Swimming Gala Bayman took 2nd place overall this year with William Ellis coming joint 2nd in the diving and Varun Gupta taking 1st place in both the 2L challenge and the Individual Competition, with Samuel Davis coming joint 3rd in the latter. Senior Girls’ Swimming Gala Despite only managing 4th place overall, there were noticeable performances from Lizzy Ebden who came first in the 2L challenge and the Individual Competition, and Sophie Cooke who came joint 2nd in the diving and 5th in the Individual competition. Junior House Rugby After Christmas, Bayman, Lawrence, Heseltine and Quennell participated in a junior rugby tournament. Bayman’s first game was played against Lawrence, the Bayman rugby players consisted of Freddie Johnston, Oscar Field, Henry Jupp , Austin Measday, Kian Suzangar and William Dowlen . Bayman came 2nd in the tournament. An outstanding effort by Bayman. Bayman couldn’t have come second without our saviours, Kian and William, who scored 3 tries together. Bayman won all their other games with a late try to secure 2nd place. It was a brilliant year for Bayman in rugby and we hope to have a successful year of rugby next year. Henry Jupp House General Knowledge For the House General Knowledge Quiz we had a practice quiz, where we were asked questions in our house meetings. The scores were added up, and those with the highest score were put into the final team. Those who had previously taken part in the competition were not allowed to be part of the team again. This year’s team consisted of Jack Carpenter in Year three, Austin Measday in Year four, Robbie Johnston for Year five and Varun Gupta for Year six for Bayman. The team came third this year and Heseltine were the winners. I thought that it was quite a tough competition this year and I would obviously have liked for Bayman to win, but hopefully next year the team will have a better chance. Robbie Johnston 5AP House Cross Country House Cross Country (Girls) At house cross country we ran a short lap of the field and then a big lap. When we finished running we all went into the hall and we started watching Horrid Henry, then we got awarded our prizes. I think Bayman should be proud of their performance. by Chloe Brown House Cross Country (Boys) Overall Bayman came 3rd.
