32 Brentwood School Preparatory House Cross Country On the 10th February 2017, we had our annual cross country event. The weather was not great, it was a grey and very cold day but I was still excited and looking forward to the race. It was my first house cross country competition and I wanted to run a great race. Everyone came into school in their house tops so it was a very colourful start to the day. We would usually all go out onto the field but because it was freezing cold, we waited in the hall to keep warm. The time came for year 3 and 4 boys and we all headed to the start line. Mrs Woodford blew the whistle and the race began. Mr Kitley was about 20 metres ahead of us all, he was the hare and I really wanted to beat the hare. At the start, I was in third position, I could see my mum and dad in the crowd cheering us on. On my second lap, I was able to get to the first position and towards the end, I started to catch the hare. Eventually I ran past the hare and crossed the line first. I was really pleased I ran a great race. Tobi Olajide 4KO On Friday 10th February 2017 it was House Cross Country. I stepped outside, it was foggy and bitterly cold! I had to wear my full tracksuit, woolly hat, and gloves to keep me warm. I saw my mum standing behind the blue cordon (the blue cordon was used to keep parents away from, the track). Year 3 and year 4 girls had to go first! I was really nervous when we got on to the track. We lined up ·at the start line. It was a bit squashy as everyone wanted the best start. We heard the whistle and off we went. It was two laps! We had to run on a crescent shape track. It was totally exhausting! It felt like I was in the Arctic! I had a really bad stitch. I was panting. I pushed harder and harder and eventually finished. At the finish line Mrs. Faiers gave me a card which said 31st on it! I felt proud that I finished. I had a brilliant day and I can’t wait for next year’s race! Also a huge thank you to the teachers who set this up!
