Brentwood Preparatory School Magazine

Mention must be made of the ghost of Lady Tasker, an eccentric Countess for whom Middleton Hall was built in the mid 18th Century. Reports of strange ‘goings on’ have been reported over the years but as far as can be judged she has never been seen, has never harmed anyone and nobody really knows if “The Blue Lady” exists. Her ‘presence’ has sometimes been felt however, especially in the vicinity of the library! To finish and to mark the 450th Anniversary a booklet was published entitled ‘A reflection of 450 years at Brentwood School’. The following words are included: “If you desire to belong to a school of which you may be justly proud, if you wish to hear this school spoken of as one that bears a high name……….a place where all that is unworthy is hated and despised, then remember that it rests with you to give it that name”. (Edwin Bean, on his retirement in 1913). How very true. Mr C Haskett 7 Brentwood School Preparatory
