Brentwood School Preparatory House Reading 2017 On World Book Day, our eager yet apprehensive contestants competed in the annual House Reading competition. The readings were on the theme of “Money” and, as the competitors were all wearing fancy dress for World Book Day on the “Rags to Riches” theme, they certainly looked the part! The Year 2 children recited “The Owl and the Pussycat”, Year 3 read a traditional tale, Year 4 a poem and Year 5 read non-fiction. Year 6 were the most nervous of all as they read an unseen piece on the “Money“ theme with only a few minutes to prepare. All the contestants gave their all and the applause was deafening. The competition was ably judged by Mr G Davies, who gave some well deserved praise as well as some useful tips for the future. In a nail biting finish, the order was Lawrence, Quennell, then Heseltine with Bayman taking first place. Well done to all the readers, we are very proud of you! 76
