86 Brentwood School Preparatory Our Sporting Achievements It has been another outstanding year for sport in the Prep. Four of our teams –the U11 Boys Cross-Country, U11 Fencing, U11 Boys Gymnastics and Equestrian - qualified for national finals. The outstanding achievement of our equestrian team who retained their national champions status at the NSEA competition in April cannot be understated and our U11 girl fencers were also crowned national champions at Millfield School. Our gymnasts were agonizingly placed 4th at the nationals and the young squad can look forward with optimism. Under Mr Matthams, the U10 football team has had a very strong unbeaten season with three squad players attached to professional academies. Our rugby teams also had a strong season with some notable wins and a hugely enjoyable mini-tour to Suffolk alongside our Hockey Teams who also had a very strong season under the aegis of Ms Scotland, Mr Edwards and Mrs Copping. Our netballers made steady gains throughout the year and were an accomplished group by the end of the season and won the District Large Schools league. They had a most memorable trip to Jersey and there will be lifelong memories from their time together. Our cricket teams have been very strong and many players represent Essex at their particular age group. We are nurturing young talent and this can only be good news as we move ahead. We are also Large School District champions in Cross-Country, Swimming and Water Polo, and we are quietly confident of matching this feat in athletics. We have a number of children who represent the District, County and Eastern Region in a variety of sports and this is something to be very proud of. This level of success and level of participation does not come by chance and most definitely should not be taken for granted- it is the result of hours of practice and dedication.
