Brentwood School Preparatory Sports Day Morning The day had come, I was so excited! When I got to school, we walked on the track. I was a bit nervous when I got there but soon I was ok and super happy! Everybody had to be in their house kit because the houses were competing against each other. When we got to the track there were gazebos and water because we needed shade and a lot of water. It was a very hot day. Then the races started, it was so amazing how fast people were. While I was waiting I was chatting to my friends. Then it was my turn. I was to run in the 100m race. Even though I came last I was still proud of myself. After a lot more races it was lunchtime. We all walked back to our classrooms to eat our packed lunch. Afternoon After lunch, we went back out to the field. Our house team met again in the gazebo. While we waited for our turns we watched all the other races. I liked the sack race! People did a fantastic job and tried their hardest. Then it was my race, I was a bit nervous. It didn’t go as planned- we all came last but we were proud of ourselves for trying. Later, it was time for prize giving, people won lots of cups and certificates. Overall, my house, which is Quennell, won! I think all the houses did brilliantly, and it is not just about winning, we should be all be proud of ourselves for taking part. Also, I think the teachers did a fantastic job organising the day! So thank you teachers! And thank you for reading my sports day write up! Max Flower 3DV 90 Sport It was the day of Sports Day. They called me up for the race, I had butterflies in my stomach and then it was time. I was waiting at the starting line ready to race then the teachers said, ‘Take your marks, get set, race!’ I was nervous and excited at the same time but in the end I managed to come 2nd.Then after my race I had a drink of water because I was very tired. Also the sun was beaming. After a few hours of waiting we had packed lunch. I was very hungry after my race. As we were filling our tummy up, all the teachers were still on the field, ready for us and roaring. As we all went back to the field everyone was excited and overall our house (Quennell) won and we got the record number of points in sports day! Then we all went to our homes and had a nice celebration and a break. By Cara Castleman 4SF On the 21st June it was the Prep Sports day. The weather was extremely hot. It was 36 degrees! We brought a hat and a water bottle to the running track and wore lots of sun cream. Everyone in Lawrence sat under the Lawrence tent. In the morning, we watched Year 6 running and the chariot races and Year 5 and 4 100m girls and boy races. Then it was the Year 3 girls and boys heats. I was in race 22 and it was heat 1 of the boys 80m sprint. Billy won and I came 9th. At 12.00 we went back and I had my packed lunch. We were even allowed chocolate! Then we went back to the track for the afternoon’s races. It was still really hot. There were 52 races in total I was also in the Year 3 Boys “A” relay. We came 3rd. I was reserve in the sack race. Lawrence won the sack race! Quennell house won, Heseltine came second, Bayman was third and Lawrence came fourth. Tobi Olajide broke the school record for the Year 3 80 m. It was Mrs Woodford’s last Sports Day at Brentwood Prep School. She has been teaching sport at Brentwood for 29 years. The Guest of Honour for the day was Mr D Taylor. In 2018 it would be great if Lawrence won!!! Go Lawrence!!! By Ed Armstrong, Lawrence House
