Brentwood Preparatory School Incipe 2017-18
Brentwood School Preparatory 10 Salute Susannah Trowell After completing my degree in Geography and Sports Science at Loughborough University, I took a year out to work at a Summer Camp in the USA, and to travel to Japan, before returning to complete my PGCE. Once qualified, I worked for four years at Great Totham Primary School before leaving to become a full-time mum to my son, Sam. A year later, I joined Widford Lodge Prep School where I worked alongside my husband for 18 years. I taught a range of subjects to Years 3 to 6 and was Deputy Head with responsibility for Pastoral Care and Safeguarding. With my son away at university, it was the perfect time for me to look for a new challenge. Having been heavily involved in coaching sports teams, I enjoyed a friendly rivalry with Brentwood for many years and knew it was the school I wanted to work at. I was delighted to be given the opportunity to switch allegiance and am enjoying teaching both in the classroom and on the sports field. I love sport and still play netball and go to bootcamp, although I did give up hockey and rugby many years ago! I enjoy being outdoors so often spend time walking, cycling or gardening at weekends. Sisi Frank Joining Brentwood School in 2015 was an exciting step in my teaching life. Having lived, trained and worked in Brentwood, I was delighted to join a new school, that would broaden my teaching horizons, in an area I enjoy so much. Moving from St Thomas of Canterbury Junior School, I found the transition gentle and was thrilled to be teaching several subjects that I am passionate about, such as art, design technology, maths and English. Since then I have been fortunate enough to take part in so many aspects of school life from Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, the trip to Jersey this Easter, rugby tournaments, World Book Day events and of course all the amazing Enrichment Week activities! This summer I am taking my teaching adventures even further by teaching in China for three weeks and I hope to come home with many new experiences and ideas to share! I am also thrilled to be starting the next academic year as Head of English for KS2 and look forward to carrying on Mrs Long’s wonderful work inspiring and encouraging all our pupils in reading and writing. Salute! Sonia Milki After ten years of living in Brentwood, admiring the school from afar, I was delighted to notice an advertisement for a teaching assistant role, and even more delighted to be offered the job! Having worked in business banking for seven years, I took time out to raise a family, my two children, Shomik and Rania, who have been fortunate enough to be students at Brentwood School. In this time, I also gained my higher level teaching assistant qualifications, and subsequently worked in the nursery at my local primary school where I was also voted Chair of Governors. On my family’s move to Brentwood, I became SEN Teaching Assistant at Brentwood County High. This lead to my involvement with the Maths Department as a maths intervention specialist which I thoroughly enjoyed, and then a more challenging role of cover supervisor. In September 2015, I began my dream job at Brentwood Prep. My love of maths has inspired me to study for a degree in Mathematics, which I am currently half way through. I feel privileged to be able to support the children at the Prep in an area which I love. Condolebit tibi defuit - Sorry for missing you out
