Brentwood Preparatory School Incipe 2017-18
Clubs The Early Bird Club Early Bird Club is a bit different from most other clubs at Brentwood Prep. It runs EVERY school day from 7.50am until the start of school for children in Years Three to Six. There is no basic structure as anyone attending can enjoy any activity they like. These include Lego, board games, puzzles, quizzes, origami, reading books, comics and drawing. Sometimes just chatting with friends, or even making new ones, is all the children want to do, especially at that time in the morning! It always amazes me to see the imagination and energy the children come in with - who knew that throwing scrunched up balls of paper into a box at the other side of library could be so entertaining, not to mention competitive! The children also recently organised their own little mini table tennis league. However, it’s not only about the children. The Early Bird Club really provides a service for parents who need that extra bit of time to get to work or to start their daily routines; happy knowing their children are safe, warm and having fun before the school day starts. Pauline Deacon Gardening Club On a very sunny Thursday, Prep 3-7 held their Spring planting session. We had help from parents and grandparents to plant many beautiful flowers and plants which will result in a riot of colour in our planters. Every child was able to join in with this activity and enjoyed learning about their plant and how to care for it. Thank you again to all our helpers. A Peep into Puzzle club The puzzlers enjoy meeting on a Monday lunchtime to do jigsaws with friends, sometimes listening to music. In their own words - Puzzle club is fun! I love doing puzzles! Puzzle club is calm and happy. I love puzzle club because it’s a challenge for me – the penguin puzzle is the hardest. Puzzle club really makes me relaxed because of the environment. It’s a great place to communicate with people and you never feel alone. I like puzzle club because when it’s cold outside we can stay nice and warm inside! The year’s highlight was their perseverance with a 3D puzzleball featuring the Antarctic. What a challenge it was indeed! There was great celebration when the last piece was put into place on the final meeting of the year! Well done puzzlers! Prep 3-7 Rugby Club As Head Coach of Tag Rugby at Old Brentwoods RFC Acorns I’ve thoroughly enjoyed coaching the Year Two After School Club on Tuesdays in the Walled Garden, and I am delighted with the progress all the children have made this year. I am just as happy to confirm that I will be adding a Year One After School Club on Mondays next year. If you have any questions about the clubs please email me. (
