Brentwood School Preparatory 44 We concentrated on our health during a wonderful healthy living week where we made fruit kebabs and fruit refreshers and practised meditating. Finally, we had our last topic of Splish, Splash, Splosh. We based our learning on the story of Billy’s Bucket by Kes Gray, and the children really enjoyed imagining what they would find in their bucket! Our topic and year ended with a fantastic trip to the Sealife Centre at Southend which was amazing and we were thrilled with how grown up our children were when representing our school. Definitely ready for Year One! We learnt lots about creatures that come from eggs which led us nicely into our Trinity topic of Romp and Stomp. A herd of baby dinosaurs wreaked havoc on the Reception classrooms and the children used the IPads to take pictorial evidence and to email Mrs Audas to tell her all about it. The children really did become experts in all things prehistoric and performed a wonderful assembly to their parents, with singing, poetry, facts, dancing and lots more. A Fly On The Wall - Reception Our most memorable moment 1 When the penguins hatched from the golden egg 2 The Easter egg hunt in the walled garden 3 Starting swimming lessons at school 4 Making fruit kebabs 5 The Coronation party when we finished the frozen topic Our funniest memory 1 When Mrs Townsend had a furry black moustache 2 Goldilocks spilt all the porridge oats on the carpet and Daddy Bear left the children a message 3 When Mrs Clarke made us laugh in assembly and Mrs Audas told her off! 4 The mad scientist making slime and throwing toilet paper around the room 5 When the dinosaurs messed up our classroom What advice would you give to the children coming in to this class next year? 1 Reception is really fun so you will enjoy it 2 Don’t worry, the teachers will teach you how to write 3 Remember to use your knife and fork at lunch time 4 Remember your swimming bag on Fridays! 5 Carry on being good and always listen to Mrs Audas!
