Brentwood Preparatory School Incipe 2017-18

Brentwood School Preparatory 45 A Fly On The Wall - Year One Year One started the year with their English based topic ‘Once Upon a Time’. They received a letter from the Queen of Hearts asking for their help as someone had been causing mischief in Fairy Tale Land. The children were so excited to explore a range of traditional tales in order to help the Queen, including writing new invitations for Cinderella, writing instructions to bake Gingerbread Men, creating Wanted Posters for suspected villains and testing materials to find the best roof for the Three Little Pigs. After finding a crime scene in the classroom, the clues lead us to believe that the villain was Goldilocks but after a letter from Goldilocks herself explaining how she was on holiday with Mummy Bear and Daddy Bear at the time the children ended up discovering that the real villain was Baby Bear! As part of our Once Upon a Time topic we enjoyed a trip to Mountfitchet Castle; the children explored a real castle with buildings inside the ramparts built from timber with thatched roofs. They climbed up towers, tried on chainmail and a variety of helmets, tried the stocks and followed the chickens and turkey that roamed the site.
