Brentwood Preparatory School Incipe 2017-18

Brentwood School Preparatory 49 A Fly On The Wall - Year Two The children returned to school to a shocking scene in Lent Term... their classrooms were covered in flour and bread, having been transformed into Farriner’s Bakery in Pudding Lane, London. The children were transported back to 1666 and spent the term finding out about life in the 17th Century, including, of course, the Great Fire of London. Highlights of the term included “Build a Tudor House Day”, where the children turned their hands to weaving, tiling, thatching and bodging to create a scale replica of a Tudor house. The children made their own small Tudor house models which were burnt to the (play)ground in our very own recreation of the Great Fire! Luckily the children had already carried out a Science experiment, investigating how to make CO2 fire extinguishers and although the extinguishers were not needed on the day, the children knew exactly what might be needed to extinguish the fire! During their final term in Key Stage One, the Year Two children really did “reach for the stars”, as we embarked on our Space topic. We started by designing a space garden, planting vegetables packed with vitamins to provide astronauts with plenty of energy for their adventures in space.
