Tendring Community Assets Full Final Report

59 16 MEASURING THE IMPACT OF COMMUNITY ASSETS 16.1 Measuring the impact or value of community assets in terms of the gain to health and well being is difficult and can only realistically be done over a 5-10 year timescale, or longer. Evidence from similar projects suggest it might be possible to develop an evaluation framework that takes into account the fact that community assets may not best measured by traditional health or social care metrics, such as reduced hospital admissions or delayed transfers of care 54 . It is recommended that if this is required then a simplified outcomes framework is co-produced with indicators that are relevant and meaningful to service providers, users and funders. Too much time spent completing complex performance reports to justify relatively small investments may lead to a lack of interest in innovative developments. 16.2 The people who use services and activities are best placed to feedback on their value, as well as measuring the impact on statutory organisations. All organisations should be encouraged to use a simple framework to get feedback from their customers/clients and there should be opportunities for feedback to be shared to secure a holistic approach to service development.
