ARU NHS The Big Pitch Booklet
BigPitch The 7 Innovation to Transform the NHS COVID-19 has been truly awful, impacting all our lives and putting the health and care system under immense strain. Which is why is it even more incredible to have seen over the last year the phenomenal work and innovative approaches being adopted and delivering really positive changes that we will want to maintain in the future. Our Clinical Entrepreneurs are an important part in supporting the NHS response and that is not only through their innovations, but also as part of their busy day job treating patients, or managing COVID and non-COVID services, or informing policy and strategy. Therefore, I would like to thank each and every one of our Clinical Entrepreneurs for the commitment you have shown over the last 12 months in supporting the NHS during its most testing times to date. As we celebrate some of the amazing innovations that have come through the programme, I hope you take the time to reflect on what a significant impact you have made. The Accelerated Access Collaborative’s Our Year In Focus 2019/20 report highlights some of the success of the Clinical Entrepreneurs programme as well as the wider work from the Accelerated Access Collaborative. As we look to capture the learning from the response to COVID-19 it is clear that leadership and an innovation friendly environment are critical ingredients for change. Therefore, each and every one of you can use and share the knowledge you have gained on the programme to champion innovation across your networks. For those joining us on the programme, welcome. The celebration event will hopefully give you a good taster of what’s to come. You too have a role now in driving innovation for the benefit of patients, staff and the wider NHS. You are starting at an exciting time as a new partner helps us to deliver the programme and unleashes new opportunities in doing so. We look forward to expanding the programme from start-up to scale-up with you. The final thing I would like to say is with regards to equality, diversity and inclusion. The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme has been a trailblazer in this space, embedding principles to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion into its latest recruitment round, commissioning specification, and now in all parts of the delivery through a charter of commitments. I hope you will take this opportunity to embrace and learn from the diversity we have on the programme and drive forward work to make innovation as accessible and inclusive as possible.
