BigPitch The 9 Speaker Profiles Dr Tamsin Holland Brown MBE Paediatrician, Founder of Hear Glue Ear Device and App and CEO of Paediatric HealthTech Tamsin is passionate about early intervention in childhood for better life chances. One of the most common disabilities in childhood is hearing loss which can affect a child’s speech, language and learning which can later affect exam results and employment. Tamsin’s product Hear Glue Ear, provides special bone- conduction headphones that can either be paired to a microphone to help a child hear in the classroom or paired to an app to help a child’s development (such as providing speech and language therapy). The solution became popular over COVID-19 pandemic when children had no or reduced access to audiology or Ear, Nose and Throat services, and grommet operations were unable to be prioritised: children could be sent the equipment in the post. This led to Tamsin being acknowledged in the New Year’s honours list for services during COVID. Next year Tamsin hopes to trial the product in three low-income countries where children have little access to audiology or Ear, Nose and Throat.
