Creative Journeys Report 2019
Creative Journeys 17 3.4 Data analysis 3.4.1 Stage one data analysis The baseline and end-point questionnaire data were analysed using paired t-tests (where data were normally distributed) using SPSS. The qualitative data was analysed thematically (Braun and Clarke, 2006). Although our original intention was to analyse and present the data by distinct cases, we found that there were too many similarities to do so. Therefore to avoid repetition within the report following Yin we present a cross-case analysis (Yin 2003). 3.4.2 Stage two data analysis The Online Survey provide descriptive statistics e.g. on the number and demographic details of the care homes and participants, and thematic analysis (ibid) was used to analyse the free text comments within the survey, and the transcribed interview data. 3.4.3 Drawing across the data In the following sections the data from across stages one and two are presented. Despite some unique findings in each stage, there were many similarities between the case studies; with the survey and the stage two interviews supported the findings from stage one. Therefore the findings below bring together data from across the different data collection methods to look at the reported impacts on the social relationships of older people within care homes and with the wider community.
