Survey participants were asked to identify all the arts activities that had taken place in their care home over the past 12 months and to name any ‘other’ activities which were not included on the list. The range of arts activities in the homes was extensive as can be seen from Figure 1, with listening to music and singing taking place in all the homes. Painting (22/27) and general arts and crafts (23/27) and live performance of music (21/27) were very popular, with dance or seated dance (19/27) and reminiscence arts (17/27) taking place in over two thirds of the homes. Only nine of the homes took residents out to cultural venues such as museums or galleries.
