Creative Journeys Report 2019

70 Creative Journeys 4.8.3 Potential for arts organisation collaboration A final approach to sustainability that was raised in the findings is the potential for increased collaboration between arts organisations working in care homes. This was in fact an issue that was discussed in many of the Project Management Group and partner meetings for this research and initiated the need for the stage two arts organisations focus group to explore further. We worked brilliantly in isolation but could we actually bring things together to create something more sustainable, to create something beyond the specific art forms and to help our artists grow in terms of their professional development. (Arts organisations focus group) Certainly, considering the similarities that have been found in both impacts and mediating factors across the different stages of the findings as well as the different art forms, there are many opportunities for collaboration in order to maximise the impacts for residents and care homes alike. Moreover, the research provided a platform from which arts organisations could learn from each other and draw together their collective knowledge, skills and experience in promoting social relationships for residents living in care homes through participatory arts. This proved an exciting avenue for the arts organisations as well as the rest of the Project Management Group and is something that will be explored in future work.
