8 The Up Project Figure 3: Exemplar Blob Trees from Children after Their Final Visit to Longfields Care Home The Activities The activities shared are best illustrated by the pictures of children and older adults. The activities change week by week, and are built around seasonal themes or learning at the school (e.g. history; Halloween). This allows for synergy with the children’s lessons, but also serves as a basis for conversations to be struck up between children and the older adults. To provide maximum opportunities for all older adults to engage in activities, dementia friendly games are used, as are sensory based activities for those who may have sight impairment. The activities vary largely, from board games and arts and crafts, to dementia friendly applications on tablets. ‘I feel like this because as I have seen them I do not feel as nervous anymore.’ ‘I want to help out, now I know how alike we all are.’ ‘I chose my blob because I feel very confident about going now I have been there lots of times. I can’t wait to go again! I love going there, it always puts a smile on my face.’
