A Fly on the Wall - Year Five Moving House I’m moving house today I’ve packed my stuff away I’ll miss my wall My floor My hall But I’ll have to go away At least I’ll have roof To cover me from rain I’ll have a new bath New bricks New hearth To keep me warm all day I’ll miss my old house The many memories I had there Everything was fun (Except for the “time out” chair!) Now I’m in my new house The memories I’ll have here We will have lots of fun “Dad crack open the beer!” By Samuel Davis I am moving house From the old to the new, The van drove up the drive We were waiting for it to arrive. Boxes packed and carried past, They were strong so the process was fast. From one place to another Where all the rooms are big! It’s on a farm, With a sty for a pig. I wanted a swimming pool, So I had to dig. My bedroom is large, To get there I will charge. Mum and Dad in the kitchen Cooking a chicken. I and my pet mouse Are going to be happy in this new house. By Harry Lee The night you sleep alone I felt a tingle up my spine. Then I saw a shadow. I knew they were back. It was a cold, bitter, winter’s night and my mum was making my tea as I heard a ripping sound coming from my bedroom. Suddenly, I heard footsteps from the stairs. I turned to look but all I saw was some hair. I thought to myself, it was probably my dad, because he is quite hairy, but then I thought it couldn’t be. Suddenly my mum shouted “Dinner’s ready Hun!” really loudly (it made me jump). “Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!” shouted my mum. “Um, mum, muuummm! Where are you mum! This is n-not a game.” I shouted panicking. “O-ok then, I will find dad!” I said sternly. I walked along the magnificent corridor in my house trying to work out what I should do. Then I ran upstairs in search for my parents. Ten minutes later, when I had my last spark of hope to find my loved ones, I heard a creak from the kitchen door, inside I was dancing. I quickly ran downstairs, suddenly the grandfather clock chimed. It was midnight. My eyes started to close (as my bedtime was normally 9:30). This was the first night I slept alone. I had the worst dream ever. I was running through a forest, being chased by a pack of wolves, and then I saw a light. There was a girl walking through the light saying heavenly, “Follow me and I will show you.” And then I woke up. I hope that dream doesn’t come true I thought to myself. I made myself a poached egg for breakfast and then continued searching the house. I was getting really into being a detective and didn’t notice the hours go by. Suddenly the grandfather clock chimed Brentwood School Preparatory 63 again for 6:00pm. About half an hour later, I realised that I need my tea and that soon I need to make my dinner. I walked down the stairs and got a glass of cold orange juice. It calmed me down a lot. Then I went into the garden to look, I saw peculiar scratches on the garage roof and I also saw some long, brown fur stuck on our fence. I knew that something unusual was happening. Next, I slowly crept into the attic because I once had a dream of wolves being in our attic. Big brown and grey wolves that had red eyes and growled low and scarily. I took two steps and inside I was saying, “Danger! Danger!” but on the outside I was saying, “I am brave, I am brave,” At the back of the room, I saw eyes, big red eyes. I hope that this isn’t my dream come true. I heard a growling noise. I heard footsteps. Was it them? No, it couldn’t have been. Or was it. My heart was racing. I was sweating. It was a wolf. Suddenly the wolf made a soft noise (like a puppy). I dared to look behind myself but then I heard the bell on Fluffy’s (my dog) collar. Surely he couldn’t have scared the wolf away. I slowly looked back into the attic and there was a brown hairy face next to me. “Run Fluffy, Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I shouted as I ran like a headless chicken. I hid under my bed hoping that it was all a dream when I heard my mum shout “Dinners ready Hun!” I quickly ran downstairs and embraced my mum and looked around. Everything was back to normal. Or was it… By Seerat Sandhu
