Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Brentwood School Preparatory 11 Valete Mr D I Davies A message of thanks to Mr Davies. On behalf of everybody, thank you for your huge contribution to Brentwood, for your kindness and guidance and, above all, for your tireless service to the school. There have been very obvious changes to the school site which you have overseen. These have included the refurbishment of the Allison modern languages building; the addition of the Heseltines changing room block; the school shop; the extension to the dining halls; the Sixth Form Centre; the Wessex Auditorium; the athletics track; a second astroturf; the Bean Academic Centre and the Tuck Shop. These projects have made a real difference to the experience of every student. Under your leadership, the school has grown and academic achievement has improved with some of the best exam results in recent years. Academic results are, of course, only one part of the picture and I know you always want the best for every individual as they progress through the school and beyond. Your interest in and support of the boarding community is highly valued, too, and I am sure you will take with you fond memories of events including the Boarders’ Christmas supper and Chinese New Year celebrations. We will miss your tremendous commitment and support for the co-curricular programme and I cannot begin to count the number of sports fixtures, CCF parades, concerts and drama productions you have attended over the years. You have also worked so hard to promote social mobility and diversity and know what a difference a bursary can make to a young person, who would not otherwise have been able to come to Brentwood. Headmaster, your enthusiasm and commitment and the contribution that you have made to the school will be remembered by us all. Enjoy your time travelling, and we all wish both you and Mrs Davies every happiness in your retirement. Mrs N Jenkin Mrs M Faiers Maggie joined the Prep in 1991 as a part time Art teacher. Soon she was also teaching History and Science, becoming Head of Science in 1998. Being a very organised type she was also head hunted to run the school library, a position she held for 6 years. Maggie is very proud of being the first Lawrence house mistress, setting the standard for all of us who have come since. The same can be said for her role as form teacher in the ‘goldfish bowl’ as she calls it. Maggie has always had a special way with all the children in her care; practical, fun loving and nurturing. Brentwood Prep could not have wished for a more inspiring Head of Science. Her enthusiasm for the subject permeates through every lesson, exciting children and adults alike about the world around us and how it works. I’m sure we will see future amazing scientists who fell in love with science thanks to Maggie. Weaving through all she is as a teacher is Maggie’s energy for life. She loves to dance, travel, laugh, chat and generally be silly. Always the first to get involved whether its a social event or getting in the freezing Bushcraft lake. She is a loyal colleague, a caring confidante and more often than not the voice of reason. All delivered with a chic style and unwavering air of calm. On her retirement there will be a permanent Mrs Faiers shaped hole in Brentwood Prep. We will miss her dearly but she has also left us with wonderful memories we will cherish and a blueprint for how to be a fabulous teacher. Thank you Maggie for all you have done for the Prep, a job well done! Enjoy your retirement.
