Brentwood School Preparatory 21 Secrets of the School The Story of Middleton Hall - Second Floor The Den, Stationery Room and TA Office Continuing up the main staircase, which becomes less ornate on the top floor, these rooms, with large fireplaces, would have once been bedrooms for the Tasker household, possibly designed as a nursery. When the house was first converted into the Prep school, the boarding housemasters, matron and pupils would have lived up here. Hidden Horticulture The Brentwood Horticultural Society was formed in 1872 by Countess Tasker and was called the Brentwood and District Gardeners and Allotment Society. In the 1880s the society’s first shows were held at Middleton Hall. The evidence of Countess Tasker’s love of nature is still seen throughout Middleton Hall to this day. There are floral motifs and carvings on walls, architraves and windows, linking the wonderful house to its beautiful grounds.
