Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Brentwood School Preparatory 35 House Reports 2019 has proved to be another successful year for our house in all areas of school life. We started the year with a win in the inaugural House Photography Exhibition in the early weeks of Michaelmas term and went on to clinch both the House Point and Good Conduct cups for that term. The children were able to keep up their good work consistently throughout the year and, although not winning any further termly awards, we did achieve the highest number of house points across the whole year. In other house events, Ben won the Public Speaking competition, allowing him the privilege of giving the vote of thanks at this year’s Prize Giving to our outgoing Headmaster, Mr Davies. There were also a number of team successes throughout the year, including House General Knowledge where we came a very respectable second. On the sports field, the children of Heseltine have represented their house with enthusiasm and determination, earning plenty of points along the way for the sports shield competition. Special mention should go to the swimming events as, for the second year running, Heseltine performed outstandingly well to run away with the trophy (or perhaps that should be swim away!). The defence of last year’s Sports Day victory was taken on with gusto by all members of our house, old and new. With some outstanding running, jumping and throwing by all the children, our relay teams managed to bring us within striking distance of the main prize. Unfortunately, this year was not to be as we finished second overall after all events. However, the results of the relay events and of course our victory in the Year Six Tug of War, show that once again we are a house that prides ourselves on teamwork and supporting each other. A competition over the Christmas holiday this year produced the newest addition to the house, our new mascot Hugo. Hugo,a very yellow hummingbird, was designed by Aniij and Amii and was chosen by the children and staff of Heseltine house to represent us at house events. Look out for him around school! In House Meetings this year we have been treated to a number of excellent musical performances along with some presentations showcasing the interests of the children. 2019 also saw the first House Assemblies being performed to the rest of the school. In Heseltine, a number of Year Six children led the preparation and delivery of an assembly highlighting the effect of single use plastic on our environment. Well done to those Heseltinies who were instrumental in putting it together. Our special thanks go to the House Captains and Prefects for this year who have done a sterling job representing their House and acted as wonderful role models for the younger children in Heseltine. Best of luck to all of our Year Six leavers for the future, thank you for all you have done for our house. Mr C R Kitley & Mrs N Roberts
