Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Brentwood School Preparatory 36 House Reports Quennell started the new school year with a new House Tutor. As luck would have it, one dashing, athletic and handsome teacher in the form of Quennell stalwart Mr Matthams, was replaced by another equally dashing, athletic and handsome teacher in the shape of Mr Sawyer - the pupils of Quennell House could judge whether it was good luck or bad luck! Regardless, the new yang to Mrs Ombok’s yin was determined to carry on the hard work of Mr Matthams and ensure Quennell remained as the best House in Brentwood Prep’s history. All said and done, it has been a fantastic year and much has been achieved both individually and collectively by the Green Machine both in the classroom, on the sports field and across a multitude of other exciting House events. Our House meetings have been fun affairs and a wonderful opportunity to gather and share ideas, successes, achievements and support one another within our caring House community. Throughout the year we have worked hard to collect House Points and to behave in line with our school motto of Virtue, Learning and Manners, with the House system helping to reinforce our responsibilities as Quennell House Members and Brentwood Prep Pupils. We have collected an impressive number of House Points across the year and improved our performance across the year in the House Good Conduct Competition, whilst resolving in our final House Meeting of the year to do even better next year in these areas... When the big events have come around, the pupils of Quennell House have really turned it on and their enthusiastic preparation for these events has been a big part of that. We had a number of wonderful entries in the House Photography Competition and were absolutely untouchable in the House General Knowledge Competition, winning by a healthy margin and not showing any fatigue from that morning’s House Cross Country! Our readers read loud and clear to capture second place in the House Reading Competition, with the children and teachers of the House looking resplendent dressed as the World’s Worst Children - it was fine to be out of character for one day at least! Our Public Speakers exuded eloquence during the House Public Speaking contest, winning that title to add to our General Knowledge Cup. On and in the sports field and arenas of Brentwood Prep, Team Green have also raised the bar to new heights. Steady performances across ALL House Sports events have been key to our success this year, with all pupils understanding that EVERY POINT MATTERS! Winning the overall House Rugby Shield and jointly winning the House Hockey Shield with Heseltine in Michaelmas Term were great achievements that got us off to a flying start. Second place in House Netball and House Cross Country were our sporting highlights of the Lent Term, but it was Trinity Term where we went into sporting overdrive! Both the House Cricket Shields (Boys & Girls) were secured, as was the big prize, the Sports Day Shield, after some dazzling performances on the track and in the field, led by our talented Year Six pupils who will be missed next year. With all House Sport Points across the year added up, it was victory overall for Quennell House, a fantastic achievement and one which every pupil has contributed to.
