Brentwood School Preparatory 39 House Competitions House Hockey and Rugby Lent term ended with the much anticipated inter house hockey and rugby competitions. Year Four were first to take to the pitches and they did not disappoint. Quennell girls came top in the house hockey and Heseltine boys came first in the house rugby. Next the Year Threes demonstrated the skills learnt in their first year at Brentwood Prep. Well done to Quennell for winning the boys’ rugby and Bayman for coming first in the girls’ hockey. Year Five gave it their all in their house matches. Bayman took another win in the girls’ hockey and Quennell for the boys’ rugby. Going into the final house hockey matches were Year Six. Heseltine ended the sunny yet very cold afternoon on a win, winning all their games. The Year Six boys defied the cold weather to produce some great rugby. There was also some great sportsmanship shown on the day as plenty of boys helped out other houses when they were short of playing numbers. It all came down to the final match of the day between Heseltine and Lawrence to determine who would be the champions - Lawrence took the title! Adding this result to the House Hockey leaderboard meant that Quennell and Heseltine both came out on top. When all the rugby results were totted up, the House Rugby winning team overall was Quennell. Well done to all the girls and boys who took part. KS2 House General Knowledge Do you know which two continents are linked by the Isthmus of Panama? Or in which sport Britain might be represented by an eleven-year-old at the next Tokyo Olympics? These were just two of the questions at the House General Knowledge Quiz, when Mr Whiskerd exchanged his Headmaster role for a Quizmaster hat and the hall was alight with excitement and tension as the teams contested a tight competition. In the end, Quennell were the deserved winners with thirty four points, whilst the other three houses were separated by just four points. Well done Quennell!
