Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019
Forest School Do you have a special outdoors place, with a tree that you see changing every time you visit it throughout the year? Do you notice it growing bigger? Losing and gaining leaves and seeds? And providing new homes to wildlife? - Bayman Woods has many special trees like this and they all feel like our friends. They teach us so much about life and death and change and letting go and we’ve all worked hard throughout the year to make sure our friends are well looked after. From mud spa treatments to tidying up the litter that surrounds them in the woods, our connection in the forest has grown and is deeper and more magical than ever. We’ve looked at the wonders of the Wood Wide Web this year. How our tree friends are connected underground by a network of fungi that allows trees to communicate in their own special way. They can make sounds, they can share nutrients and they can feel. We’ve noticed a lot of fungi growing at different times of the year, and learning about the Wood Wide Web has helped with our “No Pick, No Lick” guideline. One of our favourite trees is our Tarzan Tree which is covered with ivy and has an easy access platform for the children to climb up into, and even comes with its very own vine swing! It’s very special. Brentwood School Preparatory 42
