Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Forest School Our adventures change during every session and the children always make me smile and surprise me with new ideas and invitations into their imaginative worlds. Dens and ponds have been made along with bug hotels and giant birds nests. Some children got together as an entire class to ‘heave ho!’ and collectively move huge logs around to create an obstacle course. How’s that for teamwork! We’ve continued our use of tools, making woodland cookies with our bow saw and making holes with our palm drills. Sustainably collecting Elder and Sycamore to make our own pencils from scratch! We’ve fallen in love with Discovery Corner where we can read about the natural world, find activity cards and even hold a real deer skull! And, most excitingly, we were super lucky to be able to borrow wildlife cameras which allowed us to have a sneak peak into the nighttime activities that happen when we’re not there. We got to see our badger, fox, mice and bird friends. It was so wonderful to see! There is always something new to discover and learn at Forest School and it’s an absolute joy and a pleasure to see the children connect and bond with their natural environment. Thank you Bayman Woods for all the magic you provide us! We can’t wait to see what secrets you have waiting to share with us next year! By Lauren Seaman Brentwood School Preparatory 43
