Brentwood School Preparatory 51 Classroom Chronicles - Year One Experimenting with ice made a cool start to this topic for Year One. They investigated polar animals and made life-sized pictures of penguins by using standard units of measurement. Very Chilly They then had a super day at Colchester Zoo, a highlight being watching the penguins and sea lions being fed and learning even more facts about penguins while watching their underwater antics. The animal experts were also lucky to have time to explore the zoo, finding their way to more of their favourite animals. Year One found an exciting letter from the Queen of Hearts asking for their help to catch a mystery villain who was causing mischief in Fairy Tale Land. The children had lots of fun finding clues that had been left in the playground including a red hood, a basket, lots of treats and some alphabet letters. After some investigation we realised that the items belonged to Little Red Riding Hood! They thought the villain must be the Big Bad Wolf… The children continued to immerse themselves in Fairy Tale land by baking and decorating delicious gingerbread men. Once Upon a Time
