Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Brentwood School Preparatory 52 Classroom Chronicles - Year One Then back at school, the children were lucky to be visited by local farmer Mr Benton, otherwise known as Abigail and Molly’s Dad, who came to tell them all about the crops that he grows on his farm. He brought wheat, rapeseed and peas for the children to inspect, and they were fascinated to hear how they grow and are harvested to end up on their plates. Farm to Fork Field Trip To learn more about where our food comes from, Year One went to Barleylands Farm to take part in their Farm to Fork day. The children became farmers for the morning, feeding the animals in the barn, checking the herbs in the polytunnels, enjoying a tractor ride around the farm and even milking a cow! After a busy morning farming, they took over the kitchen to make their own tasty pizza. Henri Rousseau’s Tiger in a Tropical Storm was an inspiration for Year One’s dramatic paintings of their own tigers. Using pastels, the children created a jungle scene, then painted and cut out a ferocious tiger to add to the habitat. Trees and vines were then overlaid to camouflage the tiger in its search for prey. The results were masterpieces! Tiger Art
