Brentwood School Preparatory 59 Classroom Chronicles - Year Four Year Four investigated a mysterious event that occurred over Michaelmas half term; some marvellous, mysterious eggs were found on the school grounds! Year Four Find Mysterious Eggs It was 7am on 31st October 2018, Mr Soall, the school’s new porter, was picking up rubbish at Middleton Hall, Brentwood Preparatory School. Mr Soall saw a sparkle out of the corner of his eye and,on closer inspection, he discovered two mystery eggs. These were found within a holly bush on the school premises. One of the eggs was scaly and purple in colour and the other was golden with pretty patterns. After examining the eggs, they were discovered to be around 500g in weight and were found in the bush around 160 cm above the ground. Mr Soall explained that, on discovering the eggs, he came over very strange all of a sudden and felt like he wanted to faint. Quickly, Mr Soall rang the School’s headmaster, Mr Whiskerd. When Mr Whiskerd received the call, he was astonished with the exciting news and exclaimed that he was overjoyed at the discovery of the eggs and he nearly fell off his chair! Meanwhile, later on that same day, Mr Whiskerd was walking his dog near the school’s Astro. After letting his dog off his lead,he came running back with a golden scale in his mouth. Mr Whiskerd was flabbergasted and carefully took the scale into the school’s office to show his colleagues. Both the eggs and scale are currently being analysed at The Brentwood Museum by the artefacts team. They are believed to belong to a species of dragon, captured in a Prep school photograph during the 1950’s. Has Easter come early? A pair of remarkable eggs have been discovered at Middleton Hall Lane. They were found at 7am on 31st October (Halloween). Mr Soall who was doing his morning duties came across the colourful eggs 160 cm high up in a holly bush on the school site. One of the eggs was purple with scales and the other a glittery gold colour. They each weigh 500g ( approximately half a bag of sugar) and are 15 cm tall. “I was so surprised when I was informed of these unusual eggs,’’ explained Mr Whiskerd. Since the discovery, the CCTV has captured a mysterious creature. Details are still a bit sketchy. If you know anything about this creature please contact Brentwood School on 01277 123456. Volcanius Year Four learnt some fascinating facts about volcanoes and decided to focus on their beneficial aspects and start up a new city, Volcanius, on volcanic slopes. They made posters trying to encourage new residents to come and make it their home, would you like to live there? The Year 4 classes enjoyed a ‘bug hotel’ workshop as part of their habitats topic in Science. ‘Green Up Your Act’ presenter, Philip, inspired the children to care about tropical rainforests, coral reefs and garden habitats as well as giving an interesting and informative presentation about the problems caused by single use plastics. Each class built a bug hotel from recycled wood, twigs and bark chips and these will be hung in the walled garden to encourage bees and other important pollinators. A very enjoyable day for children and bugs alike! Bug Hotels
