Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019
Brentwood School Preparatory 64 In Geography, Year Five and Six walked to Merrymeade Country Park to follow a stream as it flowed from its source through a mixed woodland. The intrepid explorers braved all sorts of weather and immersed themselves in the local flora and fauna - and the stream! As the weather improved, the mud began to dry up but there was still plenty to provide some excitement and a justification for the wellies! Merrymeade Trip Year Six went to Neasden Temple. When we arrived we saw a large domed building with stunning carvings in the stone work. First, we took our shoes off and went into a giant exhibition where we learnt more about the Hindu faith. Then we went into the Mandir itself and we saw a prayer ceremony take place, where the priests held candles up in front of the beautifully decorated statues of the different images of God. We found out that the Temple was built by volunteers and the stone and marble that was used to make it travelled through three countries without one piece being damaged! I also found it amazing that it took only three years to build. After asking our questions to one of the staff at the temple we went into the gift shop where we could buy some small artefacts and sadly, we then had to come back. I really enjoyed the Neasden Temple trip, and I hope that I can see it again. By Austin Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden Temple) Mountains Poem Mountains - fold, block, dome, volcanic, plateau Our knowledge was shared with all. Ultimately amazing Numerous facts Tectonic forces Animals and plant life biodiversity Ingenious designs Natural structure Summits of snow. As a finale to their Mountains topic in Geography, Year Six became the teachers and shared their mountain museum exhibits with Year Three. They demonstrated knowledge about mountains, how they are formed, mountain ecosystems and the environmental consequences of human behaviour on mountains. Thanks to 6KO for these thoughts: It was finally the day to showcase our projects. Year Three sat down attentively and listened to our introduction. They began to look at our projects but most of them went straight to the one where they were giving out sweets! Slowly they started coming over to our project and it was great to show it off and use our flashcards. All our sticking, painting, thinking and researching was worth it.
