Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019
Brentwood School Preparatory 65 Classroom Chronicles - Year Six Every week something to do, This time burgers - something new. We started to create our plans, Making sure we washed our hands, Picking up the sharpest knife, Giving myself a constant fright. Mixing up all the ingredients, Giving me strange yucky feelings! Mushing the mince up with our hands, It will taste better than all the brands. Taking our rolls out nice and tan, Flipping the burgers in the pan. Making burgers was so much fun, Tasting them was very yum! By Nina As part of their Food Technology Cooking and Nutrition topic, making healthier options, Year Six have been making burger patties, sauces and bread rolls. Each group had to follow a recipe, preparing all the ingredients, measuring and mixing them correctly, although the best part of the lesson was definitely the tasting! Burgers! The satisfying crunch of breadsticks in your mouth, drenched with the most beautiful barbeque sauce - it’s heaven. The effort to make it was tremendous but definitely worth it. In the process of making our burgers we had to work out how to use an electric hob independently without burning ourselves - what a challenge! When we finally made all the components - baking our rolls, making the sauce and finally the burger patties we got to taste them - delicious! By Shreya and Wren As part of Academic Enrichment, Year Six held a Model United Nations conference. Year Six were very lucky to have Mr Spall-Hancy leading us in a United Nations challenge morning. We were put into groups and given a country that we didn’t know much or anything about. In our groups, we had a little while to find out a few basic facts about our country for example: the population, the capital city, anything about their monarch or government, the language spoken, whether our country was rich or poor, some of their political views and any other general or interesting facts. We were told the aim of the challenge was to produce an engaging poster full of colour and information and to research answers to some questions such as: Which countries does it have ‘special relationships’ with? What are any of its international policies? What role does it take in global trade? How does its history conflict presently? What is it well known for? This was all leading up to a formal conference at the end of the challenge morning. In each of our groups, we had to choose a spokesperson to represent the country and the facts we’d found. Mr Spall-Hancy managed the meeting whilst two of the Year Sixes asked questions to each country in turn. Mr Spall-Hancy also interrogated us for further information. I think everyone really enjoyed the challenge as it was very well organised and we all learnt lots of new facts about new countries we didn’t know much about. By Brooke Model United Nations
