Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

77 Brentwood School Preparatory Music Young Voices 2019 Getting Ready… In September, we started to rehearse for a big event at the O2 called Young Voices. We found it extremely exciting to watch videos for the dances and to sing along to the lyric videos. Finally the concert date arrived. The O2 was massive, we were very excited. This was going to be fun! Rehearsal... The conductor and his band introduced themselves, the amazing conductor was called David Lawrence. He took us through all the incredible songs. It was really interesting to see the professional singers and dancers rehearse. The excitement builds… It was time for the doors to open and our parents began to flood in. We were all trying to find our mums and dads but it was very difficult because there were hundreds and hundreds of people there. We were getting very excited. Show time... Suddenly the arena went dark. The crowd grew quiet and we could not wait to get started. Months of practicing at school had led us to this point. We turned on our finger lights and all of a sudden the arena looked like it was full of stars, we began to sing our first song. We were all shaking with excitement to sing in front of about 15,000 people! Once we started we relaxed and had the most wonderful time singing our favourite songs. Our favourite bits... We really enjoyed singing The Greatest Showman songs as well as Coldplay’s ‘I want something just like this’. We really loved watching the dancers, they were cool. It looked very magical when the parents turned on their phone lights when we sang with Tony Hadley, more stars filled the arena. Going home... After the concert we piled back on to the coach, we were super tired but also still very excited and so probably a bit noisy! We were so happy that the journey flew by. It is an experience we will never forget. It was THE GREATEST SHOW. The Young Voices concert was such a big opportunity for all of us and we were so lucky to experience it, and maybe we could tell our children or maybe even our grandchildren we got to sing at the O2! By Cooper, Jessica, Anna and Austin In September we started learning our songs; some of them were called: Viva La Vida, Any Dream Will Do, This is Me, Come Alive, and We are the World. The day finally arrived. In the coach, we sang some of the songs we were going to sing in the concert. We stepped out of the coach and took a massive photo in front of the O2. We walked into the arena and we covered our eyes when we saw all the beaming lights. Taking the stage was a man named David Lawrence, he was our conductor. Later on Beau Dermott was called onto the stage and we sang the chorus of Fight Song with her. We were so very lucky that jolly night for we were able to sing with well known, outstanding singers like Tony Hadley & Charlene Hector! (Some of us were able to see teachers asking for autographs from Tony Hadley!) The upbeat atmosphere in the 02 was amazing with all the lights and the wonderful singing. We couldn’t believe how many children were there! Everyone looked great in their Young Voices t-shirts - it was like a sea of white which lit up in the dark. One of the best parts was seeing all the school children joining in with the fun and actions that we had spent so much time learning. It was a real spectacle. Sadly the show finished at 9pm. None of us wanted to leave the 02 but after a long day, we travelled home on the coaches. There were lots of tired children but wow, didn’t we have a great time on our awesome trip to Young Voices! By Sarah, Evelyn, Samiha and Amelia As the Miranda bell rang, we rushed inside and grabbed our jackets and went to the Senior School for lunch. After we had lunch we ran to our classrooms to get our packed tea and we walked to the coach to be seated . VROOM went the coach as it raced off to the O2. At rehearsals we met the conductor named David Lawrence. He was very funny. We practised all our songs and then we met skilled Andy to make sure we knew our dances. Everyone screamed as he entered the stage, the schools went wild, we practised our dances and watched Urban Strides go over their dances. IT WAS AMAZING! After rehearsals had finished we stayed in the O2 and had tea and saw the empty seats in front of us filling up with heaps of parents. When the show began, the host of YV gave us a huge introduction. The air was filled with the excitement of children. We all sang our hearts out and there were some great people who came to sing with us, even a lady who had a gold buzzer off Britain’s Got Talent and Tony Hadley who had come to sing the song Gold. The lights were amazing, they flashed and sparkled in all the colours you could imagine. Our favourite song was definitely the Pop Medley, because we could sing and jump up and down and feel the floor vibrating. We had a fantastic time and we even got the parents to dance! When we were walking to the coach we were fortunate to have a magical shower of snow. When we reached back to school we stepped in the heaps of snow and found our parents. WE HAD A FABULOUS DAY! By Niah, Aishani and Olivia-Beau Our Favourite Songs: I’m On Top Of The World - GOLD - We Are The World - Thank You For The Days Any DreamWill Do - Viva La Vida - You Gotta Be - Perfect Strangers - The Greatest Showman
