Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Brentwood School Preparatory 82 Library During library lessons we have been shadowing the Kate Greenaway Medal, a prestigious award for outstanding illustration in a book for children. We read the eight shortlisted picture books together, discussed our thoughts and responses to the books and voted for our favourite illustrations and storylines. It was a very rewarding experience. All the books, though completely different from one another, were thought provoking and enjoyable. It really made us think deeply about the themes discussed in the books, some were highly emotive, some hilarious. We focused on the artwork, thinking about how the illustrators had brought these stories to life. Our results were interesting: Best Illustration: In joint second place: The Wolf, the Duck and the Mouse and Ocean Meets Sky, first place went to The Lost Words, which was also chosen by the judges and won The Kate Greenaway Medal 2019. Best Story: In third place: The Day War Came, second place: The Lost Words and first place was won by The Wolf, the Duck and the Mouse. The children were amazing! They thoroughly embraced the challenge, coming up with some wonderful ideas and it was fabulous to see them enjoying the simple pleasures of reading and discussion. We searched backstage for any clues About people who help us and classrooms we use.
