Brentwood Prep Incipe 2019

Brentwood School Preparatory 86 Sports Report Our Under 11 boys also enjoyed a broad range of fixtures against strong opposition, with A, B, C and D teams regularly fielded. Our Under 11 A Team played extremely well at our own Prep Rugby Festival in September and also at the New Hall Tournament in October, however it was their performance in the IAPS Rugby Festival in November that was the highlight of the school rugby season. This was also a proud moment for the school as they actually hosted the event for the first time ever, really putting Brentwood Prep Sport on the map. Michaelmas House Sport saw Quennell win the House Rugby shield and share the House Hockey Shield with Heseltine, who were also victorious in the House Swimming Gala when the results from each individual year group gala were collated. The Swimming Galas were once again fantastic fun and well supported by parents and relatives. Lent Term Lent Term saw more sporting success across our traditionally strong sports of netball and football, but again it was success that was achieved against multiple benchmarks, rather than simply results and silverware - there were 108 netball fixtures during the season. Our football teams go from strength to strength under the guidance of Mr Sealey, whilst we were also able to count on the expertise of Mr Wingrove and Mr Allen even more this season and also add former Premier League Goalkeeper Mr Taylor to our coaching ranks. Having already finished third in the U11 Chigwell Netball Tournament in September, much was expected of the team and they didn’t disappoint, making the semi-finals of the District Tournament held at Brentwood and then collecting third place at the Bancroft’s Tournament, courtesy of some excellent netball. At the IAPS National Qualifier at Felsted School, the girls were on fire in their first two pool games winning 8-1 and 8-3 before the pressure mounted and we narrowly lost the next two games. The girls weren’t going to give up that easily and came out fighting in the final game winning 5-2, unfortunately just missing out on qualifying for the cup competition after coming 3rd in the pool. We ultimately lost a very wet Plate semi-final to Felsted School, despite having the lion’s share of possession and shooting opportunities. Overall, finishing third in the Plate Competition and taking home a very well deserved bronze medal represented a good days work. The U10 girls had a very successful netball term, scoring many goals, showing fantastic teamwork and high levels of enthusiasm throughout. The Under 10 A Team were arguably one of our most successful teams of the whole year as they won both the New Hall U10 Netball Tournament and the Netball Tournament at the Brentwood Prep Sports Tournament - incredible achievements! A massive well done to the girls who took part, it goes to show hard work and commitment really does pay off and you should be very proud of yourselves. The number of pupils attending football clubs and playing in fixtures (girls as well as boys) was perhaps the most pleasing factor of the Lent Term. The football season wasn’t actually limited to Lent Term however, as our Under 10 and Under 11 Teams also played a number of fixtures and tournaments in Michaelmas Term, where our U11 boys and girls teams both won their respective Shenfield Cup Tournaments at Shenfield High School. Indeed, given their success in making the final stages of a number of district and county cup competitions, our Under 11 A Team were still playing in June! The Year 3 boys were again able to play small sided games in a round robin format which really allowed them to show of their skills against a variety of opponents. The Year 4 and Year 5 boys teams enjoyed fixtures against our usual opponents, with the Year 5/Under 10 A Team also managing to match the girls Netball Team in winning the Football Tournament at the Brentwood Sports Tournament, along with our Chess Team to make it a clean sweep on the day!
