Brentwoodian 2019

50 Brentwood School’s Karters enjoyed another impressive year, with sensational performances at both British and European level. The School A team made history in 2018 with the team of Callum Brooks, Ethan Brooks and Iaroslav Kovalev winning a third national title at Whilton Mill in July. Callum and Ethan have moved on from the team in 2019 to focus on racing elsewhere but Iaroslav has stayed on, already captaining the new A team, including Adam Richards and Adam Harding to victory at the Brentwood round of the BSKC. There have been some superb individual achievements from drivers across the school. Liam McNeilly has performed impressively competing in the European IAME X30 championships taking podiums and gaining a wildcard to the FIA event at Angerville. Christian Lilley has also been highly successful in Europe, winning the ADAC German Kartmasters event. Callum and Ethan were also invited to represent the UK in Spain, after their performance in the Sodi British Endurance Cup where they finished 3rd. In October last year Ethan won the most prestigious prize in Junior Motorsport after beating 70 other drivers, the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, winning him a fully-funded season in the 2019 Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship. He has been testing over the winter and on the championship launch day at Brands Hatch was fastest in session 3. It’s going to be an exciting season ahead for him. Matt Luff has been in action in the BRSCC Mazda MX5 Championship, recently achieving his first win at Pembrey, despite very little time in the car. It is clear that Brentwood’s drivers have had a very successful time and more success lies ahead, especially in the years to come, recently emphasised by First Year, Finlay Pattison, who achieved his first podium at the Brentwood Karting development club, with only limited race experience.
