Brentwoodian 2019

63 U15 C Last season we were given the amazing opportunity to be the Captains of the mighty U15C football team. The season was quite eventful with some excellent results tinged with the disappointment of some poor losses but this certainly helped us grow to be a better team and we learnt a lot. The chemistry between the team really improved from the start of the season and there was a great team spirit. A major thanks has to go to the two brilliant gaffers we had in Mr Berale and Mr Lai. The season showed a contrast to the team we were before. Standout performances came from Lukas Philiou who was the rock of the midfield and with his great distribution he caused other teams absolute havoc. We scored many amazing goals, many of them coming from Lukas Philiou however it was Max Bee who finished with the top goal scorer award. Max Bee was a very reliable option for our striker alongside the likes of Lucas Penman but this did not prevent Max from being top scorer with around 20 goals. Ross Wilson also put in a great shift with his blistering pace and also contributed the most assists. To round the team off, in goal Thomas Woodcock was a brick wall conceding very few goals and keeping us in a number of games. There was only one name going to win the prestigious award of Players’ Player and that was Lukas Philiou who did not fail to impress. The Managers’ Player of the Year was awarded to one of the Captains, Cameron O’Shea, due to his versatility after coming back from injury at the start of the season. Overall it was an amazing season full of lots of memorable goals and moments. We hope to rejoin in the senior squads next year and we will always remember our final season as the mighty C Team. By Cameron O’Shea & Ross Wilson The U14A team had many skilful individual players, but we tried to play as a team as much as possible. The U14A team was filled with Benjamin Mills, Jack Ridgwell and Hugo Courtney in goal. The defence was made up of Alex Macdonald, Joshua O’Donovan, Freddie Wise, Kolade Alabi and Samuel Pryor. We had a very skillful midfield that was confident every time the ball came to them, with James Webb-Wood, Fiz Jaiyesimi, Max Barton, Luke Richards, Oscar Jones, George Clark and Charlie Hurley. Further up the pitch our attack was very quick and strong with Gerry Tegede, Ovie Jeyibo and Henry Smith. Our first game was at home against Wilson’s School. Unfortunately we drew 4-4 with Fiz scoring three goals and assisting Ovie for a tap in, to put us 4-3 up and then conceding a late goal to draw. Our second game was against Bedford Modern School and we were successful in winning 5-1. Oscar and Fiz linked up very nicely for Fiz to score on the edge of the box. The second goal was a penalty from Kolade and the other goal scorers were Ovie, Henry and George with a well-timed half volley on the edge of the box. Next up was Bishop’s Stortford College. It was a painful loss, going 1-0 up but eventually losing the game 2-1 down. Fiz scored our goal to give us the lead, but unfortunately just before half-time Fiz suffered a serious knee injury, which would ultimately end his season. Our fourth game was against Dulwich College and we lost 3-0 after dominating for most of the first half but unable to convert out chances. In the second half Dulwich took control and made us pay. The fifth game we played was against University College School which we drew 2-2. We went 2-0 up with goals from Gerry and Kolade. Unfortunately in the second half we conceded 2 set piece goals within quick succession and Josh O’Donovan scoring an own goal for one of them. Our sixth game was against Sevenoaks; we lost 2-0. Unfortunately they were a stronger team. The impressive Freddie Wise hit the crossbar with a half volley from the edge of the box from a corner. Three of our players came off injured so that meant some of our team were playing positions that wouldn’t be their first choice and this certainly cost us. Our penultimate game was against Colfe’s School and we drew 0-0 with Ovie having to play in defence for a game due to the continued injuries of others. Josh hit the crossbar with a volley which he was reaching for in an attempt to put the team 1-0 up. But it was a great team performance with some good individual performances from Ovie Jeyibo and Samuel Pryor. Our last game was against Sutton Grammar School, which we were very lucky to play on the first team pitch. Unfortunately we lost 2-0 with them scoring to quick counter attacks in the second half and we did not take our chances. It was an unfortunate way to end the season but we took the positives away from that game. All in all the U14As took away a lot from their football season whether we won or lost. We improved as a team scoring 12 goals and conceding 16 goals. We were very thankful to have such an experienced manager in Mr Woodcock and look forward to next year with an opportunity to win the ISFA Cup under Mr Wignall. U14 A
