Brentwoodian 2019

66 We had an extremely successful season with an 88% win rate, only losing one game overall. The first game set a positive tone with a solid 10-1 win against Wilson’s School. Over the following weeks we played with our formation to decide on who the best players would be for the respective positions. This led to a solid 3-3-2 structure which made a strong backbone for the team. It became clear at Bishop’s Stortford that we needed to work on really flushing the ball out of our half and pushing it into enemy territory. We were encouraged to move the ball from under our feet and crank up the pressure. This was followed by a whole series of successes. We fought an extremely tough battle against Dulwich School, who were 1-0 against us at half-time. However, as the game progressed, we showed we had the resilience to win and came through to be victorious with a 3-1 win. Goal of the Game went to Patrick Osman with a goal from near the halfway line. Even Patrick himself could not believe that he had pulled off such a fantastic goal. In the final game against Colfe’s School we took a victory and were content with our season. By Freddie Taplin U12 C Overall, the performance of the U12C team was very encouraging. The end of season report card reads 6 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. During the season we integrated well and increasingly developed under the supervision of Mr Lewis. Pleasingly, by the end of the season our football was both fluid and unselfish with players increasingly looking to create space for others - a tribute to both our team spirit and philosophy of Mr Lewis. Significant credit must be given to our strikers who managed to score a staggering 52 goals in the 9 games played (just under 6 goals a game) whilst the defence managed to concede just 12 goals during the season. Standout games included a 14 - 1 win over Bedford School and a 12 - 1 defeat of Wilson’s. Whilst goal scoring was widely spread amongst our strikers and midfielders, special mention must go to Asa French and Benjamin Raji (subsequently promoted to the B Team) who consistently found the back of the net. In defence, our goal keepers Kourosh Khorshid and Dmitry Molostvov made some miraculous saves whilst Jacob Butler, William Bell and Ellis Sooprayen became a very reliable 'back three'. Indeed on two occasions we managed to keep a clean sheet. Overall, we had a highly enjoyable season and made many new friends. Hopefully we will start next season where we left off this year. Many thanks go to Mr Lewis and my team mates for such a pleasing start to my football at Brentwood. By Robert Godley U12 D
