Brentwoodian 2019

88 We were very fortunate to have two spokespeople come into our House assembly and explain in more detail to all students the vital work Little Havens does. This talk sparked enthusiasm and discussion within the House on how we could support the charity for the year. As well as fundraising during our Christmas fair and Track and Field day, a group of Lower Sixth students visited the hospice and were given a tour to see how Little Havens is a place of joy and comfort for the families who use their services. Following this, the students spread the word about the House charity to younger years in the Junior Colloquium and JSABS meetings. We invited the spokespeople from Little Havens to listen to the talk, during our House week, and they were so touched that the students felt so passionately about their organisation and wanted to make the wider school community aware. Weald truly led the way in forming a close relationship to a local charity last year and should be proud of the awareness and vital funds they were able to generate from their hard work.” By Miss Martin (Assistant Head of House) This year being a part of Weald House has been like an amazing rollercoaster ride. Not only have we won several House events during House charity weeks, but we raised awareness and a significant amount of money for Little Havens Hospice, our chosen charity for this year. From winning House Music to House Tug of War, through this whole year we have been consistent in our commitments to the House and have worked hard to win the House Cup. One of the highlights for me this year has been introducing House Dance into our House charity week, which we won by a large margin. I also had the privilege of running our House Lip Sync Battle which we performed with great enthusiasm and determination. Jack Webster was the star of the show! None of this would have been possible without our incredibly encouraging Head of House, Mr Wright and his team, Miss Martin and Mr Clark. Our House Captains, Rachel Appiah, Jai Anilkumar and Bradley Comber have been great leaders and have engaged all of the Weald members into participating in a numerous range of events as well as delivering our House Week with huge integrity. I thoroughly look forward to taking over the role from such inspiring leaders. By Clarise Castleman (House Captain) Weald Charity Little Havens Hospice
