Brentwoodian 2021

116 of legends are born as they go on to SMASH the tournament. Credit to Pierce Mosley - he hit two balls into Shenfield, andWill Howard, he’s not just a cricketer you know! That is what Weald is about - people stepping up and raising their hand for the House, and most importantly having fun. I couldn’t have cared less if we had lost every single game, the laughter and smiles were all that mattered to me. The final House BAC week was devised byWest House, and would therefore be competitive! Squash highlighted this, but thankfully we have Oren Goddard. If you don’t know Oren, look out for the student wrapped in cotton wool before House Squash this year. Did we win it? I won’t say anymore. The Art Attack event was also superb and thanks to our creative Year 7 students and new House Captain team. So, we were in the lead for the House Cup, with House Track and Field to go - could we retain the title? Finally we could have a big House Event all together and although the rain tried to ruin the day, it didn’t dampenWeald’s spirit. Our new House Captain team led from the front whilst Heather Young multitasked between competing and making our newWeald flag. Heather deservedly won the ‘Weald Champion’ trophy at the end of the term for her efforts during Track and Field alone. So, we needed to finish in the top four to win the overall House Cup and we needed everyone inWeald to step up. Enter Joseph Payne. He alone broke five school records - he broke the school record on his first jump, then broke his own
