134 Mr Miller Mrs Franklin retired after six years in the Food and Nutrition Department where her enthusiasm for her subject inspired many. A patient and kind teacher, she was highly respected and valued by students and colleagues alike. Mrs Franklin encouraged and supported students to win national cookery competitions; she played an integral part in developing and delivering new courses, such as the new GCSE and the Food Science IB course, and she engaged with our professional development programme, with her project being published in our research journal The Pioneer. We wish her all the best in her retirement. Mr Miller joined the PE department in 2015 as Head of Football and quickly went on to take on the role of Head of Boys Games as well. In his time at the School he organised tours to USA, Europe and the national football centre at St George’s Park. He led the First XI to victory in the Essex Cup and regularly reached the latter stages of the national Independent Schools Cup. He also saw a number of students realise their dreams of playing professional sport. We wish him luck with his next adventure as he moves with his family to Abu Dhabi to take on the role of Director of Sport at Amity International School. Mrs Franklin
