137 Mr McNiff Mr Whetnall Mr McNiff joined the Geography Department in 2019 as well as taking up the role of resident tutor in Hough House. He was a valued and enthusiastic member of our school community within and beyond the classroom and he moves on to his new role as a Housemaster at St Edmund’s Ware with our very best wishes. Mrs Oztoprak joined the Chinese Department in 2018 offering her expertise in Chinese and her understanding of the cultural differences between the UK and China. She worked to promote the IB Chinese-B course and assisted with private study sessions. We wish her well. Mr Palfreyman played a large part in supporting the co-curricular aspect of Physics, including but not limited to, Friday STEAM activities, Problem-solving Club, Rocketry Club and helping students prepare for Oxbridge. His stewardship of our safecracking teams - all above board, please be assured - was also excellent. Mr Bolton retired from Brentwood in 2019 coming back to teach part-time in December, teaching across all the Key stages. His expertise was valued in the Department and he cared deeply about the students in the classes he took over. Mr Bolton’s original plan for retirement was to be able to travel and hopefully, with the borders starting to open, he will be able to plan his travels again. Mrs Oztoprak Mr Bolton Mr Palfreyman
