Brentwoodian 2021

Ms Smith is warmly welcomed by the History Department. Ms Smith enjoys teaching a subject where it is possible to spark the students’ interest. History is all around us, whether it be a building, a painting, a statue, a book or an entire city. It can grasp the imagination and encourage the students to explore beyond the classroom. Ms Smith has always had a keen interest in History and often travels to historical sites and cities. Teaching combines her passion for History with the ability to help others. In her spare time, Ms Smith has a keen interest in horse racing and the thoroughbred breeding industry; allowing her opportunities to travel all over the world. Her proudest achievement was being able to ride a racehorse. According to Ms Smith, this was a very difficult challenge for her, but it taught her the value of perseverance and dedication. Mr Richter will be joining the Languages Department this year, teaching Mandarin and Spanish. Mr Richter enjoys teaching as it opens students' eyes to new languages and cultures! He realised that teaching was the profession for him ever since university, having summer jobs, being a summer camp counsellor and teaching MFL. So finding his way into teaching felt like a natural transition as it is what he loves. Outside of school, he enjoys hiking and crossword puzzles. Mr Richter’s favourite film is Inception. His favourite ice cream flavour is mint chocolate chip (the only correct choice really) and if he could have any super power, it would be the ability to talk to animals. 152
