39 On Friday 24th September the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Boys’ Swimming Teams travelled toWatford for the ESSA Regional Team Championships. The Junior Boys 4x50m Medley were first to race, the team consisting of Tobi Olajide, Obalolu Bankole, Rostislav Kovalev and Corben Gibson. The boys swam an extremely strong race, setting the pool alight to become ESSA Regional Champions with a time of 2:28.24. In the 4x50m Freestyle Relay the Junior Team won an impressive silver medal and trailed the winning team by just over a second. The Intermediate Team of RoryWilde, Elliot Gibson, Jacob Butler, Luca Biagioni and Sonny Clifford came 2nd in their Freestyle Relay heat, placing them in a very impressive 8th place overall with a time of 1:59:92. A 3rd place finish in the Medley Relay heat resulted in a 9th place overall with a time of 2:17:30. The Senior Team of Angus Robertson, Jacob Stephen, JoshWhite and Tom Brown finished 9th in the Medley Relay with a time of 1:59:94 which was just over five seconds slower than the team finishing in first position. Despite swimming a year out of age group, the Senior team also placed 7th in the Freestyle relay with a time of 1:47:01. Overall, and out of approximately 25 competitive teams, collectively Brentwood School finished in 5th place and achieved their highest ever finish in the ESSA Regional Championships. The Junior boys will now have to wait to see if they have qualified for the prestigious National Finals, which will be held at the London Aquatic Centre on 27th November 2021. By NikkiWatson Swimming
