59 Chapel as our Chapel choir and musicians led us musically. I was particularly pleased that this service allowed us all to ‘gather’ albeit remotely and it was also possible, in this way, for the wider school community of parents and Old Brentwoods to be part of this act of Remembrance. The service was also a wonderful opportunity for many pupils and staff to work together in a new way and it remains, for me, a particularly memorable occasion. This year we have mourned the loss of two long-serving members of our school community, Mrs Mary Blesham and Mr MikeWillis who, collectively, served this school for 67 years. Both teachers influenced the lives of many in the School - pupils, staff and parents alike and their memorial services in Chapel were important moments in the life of this school where we can remember and give thanks for those who have made such a significant contribution to this community. Some members of Mrs Belsham’s final year group (currently in the Lower Sixth) helped to lead this service with some wonderful music. Mr Willis’ service, shaped as it was around aspects of the traditional service of Choral Evensong, proved a fitting tribute to a man who enjoyed the peace of this service. Since March 2020, there has been a small, but growing group of people within the Brentwood School community who have gathered weekly for a Sunday Chapel service. For much of this time it has been online but small numbers have also come together in Chapel for important services such as Christmas and Easter, with the use of zoom technology making it possible for many more to join us. I am excited about the growth of this new community and we are looking to find ways in which we can continue to gather, both online
