Brentwoodian 2021

79 It was a great joy to start the year with training in person, albeit restricted by the Covid rules. Training came back to Fridays with some well-needed drill practice and weapons- handling training. Michaelmas training included the Field Days where the newlyappointed Cadet RSM Emma Philpot’s and RQMS Ethan Chopra’s organisational skills were tested. They supported the event with superb focus and attention to detail. This year’s SNCOs included a newly-formed training team led by CSgt Will Jones. The team, including CSgts. Caitlin Goodbody, Lucas Ring, Ellie Deans, Lauren Burgin, Annie Shaw, and Harvey Suttling, gave an excellent demonstration to Cadre on 6 section battle drills, brilliantly setting the scene for the school-based Field Days. Similarly Commando enjoyed a series of school-based events capably led by CSM Charles Tomlinson, and CQMS Reanie Smalley. This saw Commando use the newly-developed area on Shenfield Road, and thanks must go to RSM Hill, ASSI Sell, and the grounds staff in clearing and preparing the area. Army
