95 It was another exciting year for South House, with a huge range of events superbly supported by members of the House. Here, the House Captains report on some of the highlights. Thanks to the success of Virtual Music Land, House Music 2020 went virtual! It was a shame that one of the biggest events in the School calendar had to become a virtual event but us musicians were still very pleased to be able to take part in our favourite competition of the year. This year the PartSong was led by Poppy Skingle, with a choir of 12 pupils ranging from Upper Sixth to Year 10. The competition in the PartSong was extremely tough, and the situation was made even more difficult for our singers as they were unable to perform together. Nevertheless, we attained a respectable 35 points out of 40, which would stand us in very good stead for the remainder of the competition. Jessica Mills led the Ensemble section fantastically, arranging a Grease Medley for us to play, whilst also playing the alto sax and violin. Despite having very limited numbers for the band, EllieWilliams and Alex Lockyer both helped the House massively playing the alto sax and clarinet, and cello and piano respectively. This was a significant boost for the House. The arrangement and playing was both superb in this section and we achieved a massive 39 points of 40, placing us second in the Ensemble category. This meant that it was all to play for, in the final section of House Music, the Unison.
