96 During the 2015 House Music, South performed Mr Blue Sky in the Unison section, and a very contentious decision, placed us second overall, narrowly missing out on victory. However, 2020 was a new year and we were determined to banish the ghosts of the 2015 competition. This section was co-led by Surya James, Melissa Morton and Tiggy Coyne. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, only Upper Sixth and Year 7 students were allowed to take part, as a result of year group bubbles. However, all performed extremely well and we were awarded 19 points out of 20, which was enough to crown us champions of the Unison section, an achievement that many people could be proud of! Overall, we finished on 93 points out of 100, which placed us joint second in the competition, losing to first place by a solitary point. Every member of the House who took part in this event should be extremely proud of their efforts, and as a House we would like to thank all of the Music Captains, our Head and Deputy Heads of Houses and the Music Department for aiding and supporting us throughout the competition; without them we would not have been able to perform as well as we did. By Connor Bartell North House week saw an intense competition of Chess amongst the contending pupils. House Chess saw a large number of Southites taking to the virtual boards, with Alex Mead, Connor Bartell and Sam Pepper bringing it home for the Lower Sixth team. South put in a stellar performance, finishing fourth overall. Despite the disheartening outcome of our House’s hard work in many events we still maintained our good sportsmanship and pushed on to the next HouseWeek. Although South House gave it their all, again, in Chess we were not victorious, but when you have to move the horse in chess, you always have to take an L. Our talents had yet to surface in the next weeks’ events…
