It has been another exceptional year for the ski team, despite some challenges presented by the pandemic still having an impact at times. Training resumed in September and felt like the strongest start to training since the team began. Very soon our ski racers from the previous academic year were competing in the ISA National Indoor Championships in October at Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre. All our competitors were medal winners, and the teams won the Junior Mixed and Senior Boys’ Competitions. Huge congrats again to Scarlett Pratt U10 girls, Juliette Toms U12, Max Kingsley - who finished 1st in the U14 boys, Harry Toms U16 and Ed Fisher U18! Throughout the Michaelmas Term, parents also organised additional training sessions with Impulse Training at Hemel to prepare our racers as much as possible to compete in the Independent Schools Ski Championships again. The team and staff were very excited to be entered in the ISSC for December 2022 and we were looking forward to the chance to race on snow again at last. However, alas, it was not to be as Covid restrictions resulted in the competition being cancelled by the event organisers. While naturally disappointing, Team Ski is never negative and the team spirit, laughter and good humour on display for our final Christmas training session, dressed up with Christmas lights and tinsel and drinking hot chocolate kindly prepared by the Sparks family, was a brilliant end to term! Nothing stops Team Ski moving forwards in a positive way and in the Lent Term we completed our partnering with the Prep School, inviting pupils to sign up for trials and join SKIING 115
