Brentwoodian 2022

resulting in us being the 6th best team in the country. This is very impressive when we consider that we only train within school time and a testament to the quality of squash at Brentwood School. Three of our main players, Achinta Kundra, Zoë Smithers, and Olivia Mitchell were all chosen to represent Essex in the Inter-Counties Competitions, representing themselves, the School and county well both on and off the court. We have had many players from younger years given the opportunity to play squash weekly during the free lunchtime sessions, including Daisy Edwards who eventually played 2nd seed in our Round 2 matches and National Finals Team. As the year went on, more and more girls progressively came to the lunchtime sessions which influenced other girls to join. There were Christmas and Summer wholeschool tournaments which are open to everyone who is involved in squash and are open to all abilities. Olivia Mitchell ended up being the highest ranked girl and was therefore crowned Girls’ Champion, beating many of the boys along the way. We are so grateful to Jake Byrne for his constant advice for match play, and our coach, Mr Wood, who has been there from the start, and he will be truly missed both on and off the court.
