Brentwoodian 2022

U14 With a very small year group we were always going to find things hard playing against some of the bigger rugby playing schools on the circuit. Our boys were determined and worked extremely hard on developing our rugby knowledge and skills and, with great support from our coaches, we started to become more and more competitive against other teams. This has been a season of great improvement for the U14. The early games often saw us behind at half-time due to a lack of concentration. However, we then switched on and found ourselves playing much better rugby that meant we tended to dominate the second half and sometimes came back from being behind and winning games in the second half. Over our team talks during half-time we often determined that we were easily capable of scoring a few tries if we switched on. We did exactly that in the second half, with Alex Harvey James Farrow and Peculiar Oyedele scoring some superb tries to give us a chance to win games that in the past we would have lost. With coaches, Mr Hitchings and Mr Nolan, we worked hard on our continuity in attack and solidity in defense. This developed structure of play soon began to show in our performances. Our hard work was rewarded. We played the whole game in a very structuredmanner and very soon our boys started to play as a team and became much more competitive. We secured some excellent victories against Sutton Valence, Coopers’ Coborn, King John and Bishop’s Stortford High Schools. Overall we could be very proud of our performances over the last fewmonths and we are all looking forward to next season. 141
